Meet the Trustees

Andrew Bruckland - Chair

After a career first in the law and then in business, including as the Managing Director of a Stock Exchange quoted company, Andrew is now retired. He became Chair of the Trustees of The Rock in 2020 after being a supporter since the Rock’s foundation.

Andrew has lived in Cheltenham since 1982. Over that time his voluntary activities have included a period as Chair of Cheltenham Youth for Christ; as a Diocesan-nominated Governor of a state secondary school in Gloucester; and as a Trustee Governor of Dean Close, of one of Cheltenham’s independent schools.

He has also served on church PCCs and the Cheltenham Deanery Synod, and is a committed member of Cheltenham Minster with St Matthew’s church.

Andrew is married to Diane. They have two married daughters and five grandchildren. Andrew hopes that all of the grandchildren will follow him not only in the Christian faith but also as supporters of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club!

The Venerable Phil Andrew

Before his appointment as Archdeacon, Phil spent almost 11 years as Vicar of St Mary’s Church in Reigate, Surrey, where he was also an honorary canon of Southwark Cathedral. Before training for ordained ministry at St John’s College in Nottingham Phil had a career as a Chartered Engineer, working in a number of management roles overseeing design and construction projects particularly in the UK water industry and including several projects in Gloucestershire with Severn Trent Water. Phil is married to Sue, a GP, and has three adult sons. Phil describes himself as being ‘passionate about ‘joining up’ real life and faith and helping people from all backgrounds and of all ages find that the Christian faith is as universally relevant in the 21st Century as it has ever been’.

Jonathan Daykin - Treasurer

A qualified actuary, working as an investment consultant and partner at Barnett Waddingham LLP, based in Cheltenham. Jonathan is an active member of Trinity Cheltenham church.

Henrietta Goodall

I have been a teacher for most of my adult life, except for 2 years in the nascent personal computer industry in the early 1980s, and have taught all Key Stages, except for the Early Years stage.  I have taught History, English, ICT, Geography, RS, special Needs, Latin and Games, and have had various roles including teacher, form tutor, site Co-ordinator and Deputy Head. I have taught in the State sector and in public schools and in England, Italy and Argentina.  I have had a long interest in special needs teaching. I am currently a trustee of Wotton Volunteers, an organisation that helps get people to hospital appointments, and a governor of Thomas Telford School, up in Telford.

Mandy Belcher

I am a nursery chef with a keen interest in food and nutrition. I am a member of St. Paul’s Church and I have a child who has attended The Rock for many years, starting while in school year 6 and now volunteers as an Adult.

Adam Legge

Falling into Youthwork in 2006, Adam has worked across Gloucestershire and

Worcestershire in both secular and faith-based youth projects ever since. Often found

around water with a love of aquatic sports, Adam is looking forward to seeing how God will

use Rock to bring together communities and inspire youth people to flourish into their full

potential.
