Elevate

The Elevate Project is an exciting new project from The Rock. The focus of this project is supporting young people in their transition from primary to secondary school, using the Christian faith as a foundation. We recognise that this change of school is a huge moment in the life of a young person and so we want to enable them to transition well. Whilst the support we offer can take many different forms, the foundation is always the same. At The Rock we believe that the Christian message is not only of incredible value to our lives but that it also offers hope, self esteem and purpose to those who hear it. We use the Christian faith as a foundation for the Elevate project because we believe it has a lot to offer and say to young people in this time of seemingly world altering transition.

Starting new for the spring is our weekly Elevate Group. These sessions take place on a Monday evening and are for anyone in school years 6 to 9.  The Elevate group has two core aims. The first is to create a fun, safe and positive environment for everyone who comes. The second is to support the young people who attend our sessions as they journey through life. We understand that life for young people can be full on, young people have a lot to contend with in their world and at the rock we want to support them as best we can. The session gives time for fun, games, craft and creativity as well as offering dedicated time spent exploring themes that will benefit young people as they live their day to day. These themes can include handling emotions, dealing with stress, mental health and more. The session also offers the young people the chance to see the topics from the perspective of the Christian faith. While this perspective will be shared the sessions will be open, accessible and appropriate for those of all faiths and none.

Elevate in schools is the part of the wider Elevate project that supports transition within the school setting. This can happen in many different ways from assembelys to sessions in schools.

An exciting new venture for 2023 is that we have started to offer the running of prayer space sessions. Prayer space works by the Elevate team working in a school anywhere from a day to a week in a year, and setting up a prayer space for those in year 5, 6, or 7. Throughout the week each class in year 5, 6, or 7 gets an opportunity to come into the space and engage with a number of different activities designed to give them space to reflect and process their feelings around their upcoming transition or their first year in their new school. Young People don't often get the space to think and reflect around changes in their life. We believe that these sessions help them to develop their own sense of identity, self-worth, personal insight, meaning and purpose and allows them to explore some of lifes big questions.
